Experience
I first began tutoring math and physics when I was a freshman in college more than fifteen years ago. I earned a bachelor's degree in math and physics with honors and continued on to earn a masters in physics. My many years of experience have brought me numerous students and learning abilities. I have successfully assisted students in learning differential equations, calculus, algebra, physics, and more. In all cases, my favorite moment is when the student finally experiences grasping the topic being covered. There is nothing better than the moment when it finally clicks. I believe that most students struggle with the finer concepts of physics and math. It is by walking through the problems and breaking down the concepts that the student is able to begin to understand the material. I think it is important to spend time on each problem and to discover where the student is struggling so that learning strategies can be implemented. I also think it is important to provide students with methods that allow them to be able to check their own work because this will allow the student to become a confident and independent learner. In return for becoming an independent learner, the amount of time needed for tutoring can be reduced or even eliminated.
